I first came to know about the so-called "Gangnam Style" is from the song "Gangnam Style" (강남스타일). It released on July 15, 2012, which is the lead single of South Korean musician Psy’s sixth studio album Psy 6. The music video has been watched over 2.53 billion times on YouTube till now which is more than the population of Indonesia. It has been YouTube's most watched video since November 24, 2012, and it has also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for most liked YouTube video. On its trends blog, YouTube wrote: "It is a massive hit at a global level, unlike anything we've ever seen before. Each day, "Gangnam Style" is still being watched between 7 and 10 million times." (Arnold, 2012) Ever since the song went viral, the place Gangnam as well as urban people whose lifestyle labelled as “Gangnam Style” has gained significant attention. Thus, I want to find out more about Gangnam and its culture.
